Ursula Xanthe Young
Born: Northern England
Resides: Lower Haight, San Francisco
Vision:
Ursula Xanthe Young’s wistful paintings and drawings are
visual chapters in her San Francisco Urban Fairytale. This iridescent
story of beautiful fairy-girls with butterflies in their hair,
cheeky elfin boy’s dancing to the sounds of electronic beats,
overgrown gardens and slanted Victorian homes, is a marriage of
Ursula’s San Francisco surroundings to her whimsical vision.
Born in Northern England she has spent most of her life traveling.
At an early age Ursula discovered her passion for the arts and
has since indulged in a variety of mediums. An illustrator at
heart, Ursula has also made a name for herself as a graphic designer,
a muralist and a painter. Her effervescent paintings have been
in countless exhibits on both coasts, and her unique urban fairytale
illustrations have become a San Francisco staple appearing on
walls, club flyers and on record sleeves. Next time you are on
Haight Street don’t be surprised if you spot one of Ursula’s
signature paintings and become transported into her fantastical
Urban Fairytale.
