Sally Russell
Regularity and conformity abound in our society today. Rare is
the occasion that we succumb to the irregular and unpredictable,
to the whimsical and unique. Sally Russell seeks to capture the
essence of the abstract in our world and to play with the relationships
between shapes, patterns, color and texture. Sally is a Monterey
Peninsula native and lives in Carmel Valley with her husband and
Great Dane. In addition to her sculpture and painting, she also
has a line of functional dinnerware that reflects her playful
spirit and sensibility. She derives inspiration from real life
and occurring themes in nature as well as such artists as Viola
Frey, Nicki de St. Phalle, Joan Brown and David Hockney.
