Vision:
These stars are the experience of something other. They
are ambient molecules moving into and beyond the realm of our
perception, guardians at the doorway to alternate worlds. In their
presence we feel light transmit itself from the boundaries of
form. These stars hold codes to accelerated transformation, increased
sharing between all of us.
As replicable structures that convey light, they reflect the relationship
of DNA molecules and life, words and meaning, crystals and information.
They transmit energy at such a high velocity at any moment they
might leap out of this place before our very eyes. They would
take us with them.
When we return we see the world with all its various focal points
for what it really is, an entity bonded by a singular core. This
core may be the underlying 20-sided geometric form that unifies
the stars, or the understanding that even in our uniqueness we
belong to deeper networks.
Rob Newell studied at University of N. Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He began making forms three years ago, as a part of an ongoing
collaboration with Sound Tribe Sector Nine. He has shown his
creations in concert spaces all over California, including the
Fillmore and the Warfield. This current series of stars marks
a transistion from stage installation to interior design.
