Dennis Mcnulty
Raised : Florida/Georgia Border
Resides: South of Market, San Francisco
Vision:
Dennis McNultyís work simultaneously absorbs the energy of his
urban environment and explores internal rhythms and external movements.
His Portrait series demonstrate superior technical proficiency,
whereas his Crow series, haunt as much as they inspire.
Dennis is an avid people watcher which allows him to accurately
capture the most subtle facial expressions and traces of concealed
emotion. This is seen well in his proud and vital portraits prints.
These etchings are framed in found wood and reflect the cityís
eclectic citizenry and fragmented architecture.
In addition to being a master draftsman, his use of paint and
brushstrokes are natural and exceptional. Dennisí Crows emerge
out of the remnant pieces of wood on which they are applied, and
skillfully render these powerful symbols of intelligence and adaptability.
The images, formed from the grain and color of the timber, echo
Dennisí own relationship to the electric influences of the city.
Rather than fight the rhythms and structures he manipulates them
into images.
