Caren
Lorber
Born: Los Angeles, Ca
Resides: San Francisco, Ca
Vision:
Caren Lorber exuberantly conjures fantastic characters from tiny
shards and morsels of our material world. With enviable pizzazz,
she arrays Crackerjack box trinkets and gumball machine charms,
forgotten costume jewelry and drapery tassels so artfully that
suddenly, in a flurry of recognition, the wittily recycled pieces
connect like dots to form sassy tales of modern life.
Caren had no rigorously formal art training. But since she was
a child, she’s been collecting and playing with tiny objects.
Her has fascination led her to appreciate the miniature paintings
of Persia and India as well as the assemblages of Joseph Cornell
and the collages of Robert Rauschenberg. She left a successful
career in broadcast advertising to be a fulltime artist.
